ATTIRE

-All classes (with the exception of Hip Hop) must wear STRICTLY dance wear. This means leotards, tights, shorts, etc. Absolutely no t-shirts, sweats, or other baggy attire. Clothing that covers the knees is not permitted. You can purchase dance wear at dance supply shops, Target, Walmart or online.
-Female students in Tumbling classes must wear leotard or unitard. Shorts worn over leotard are acceptable.
-Hair must always be pulled back FOR ALL CLASSES.
-Boys may wear a t-shirt & gym shorts or sweats. NO JEANS OR KHAKIS. **BOYS IN BALLET TECH CLASSES SHOULD WEAR A PLAIN WHITE TSHIRT & BLACK SHORTS**
-Loose fitting work-out wear, t-shirts or sweats is only allowed in Hip Hop classes. Hip hop students MUST be wearing tennis shoes for all practices in order to participate.
-Sr. Ballet, Team Tech, Ballet Tech & Pointe classes wear a black leotard and pink tights ONLY. Absolutely no exceptions!
If you are not following the dress code you will be asked to sit out. Your third time breaking dress code, you will be sent home. LABEL ALL SHOES, DANCE BAGS, ETC WITH YOUR DANCER’S NAME!


REQUIRED SHOES

Students are expected to have the appropriate shoes for each class. SHOES FOR PICTURES & RECITAL MUST BE THE EXACT STYLES & COLORS WE HAVE SELECTED. All students will need to have their required shoes by JANUARY 1ST, 2017. This gives students’ feet time to “break in” the shoe before pictures and recital. We have a great set up on discountdance.com where you can go directly to our studio’s class lists and purchase all of the correct shoes and other dance attire. Babies, Primary 1, & Primary 2 Combo: Mary Jane style taps in TAN, pink leather ballet slippers (Capezio Daisy preferred)

Boys: Black ballet shoes, black tie JAZZ taps, black Bloch SuperJazz jazz shoes

 

REQUIRED TIGHTS

For recital, all female students are required to wear Capezio Lt. Suntan convertible tights. Each student will be ordered ONE pair through the studio. If you child is in Sr. Ballet or Pointe, they will also need a pair of Capezio tights in Ballet Pink for recital & pictures.

 

STUDIO RULES & CONDUCT

-Be on time. Everyone should be on time to allow for proper stretching and conditioning. If for some reason you are late and miss the warm-up, please stretch out quickly & thoroughly on your own before joining in with the class.
-No chewing gum. Please dispose of it BEFORE class time.
-All belongings are kept inside the studio. This is to protect your possessions and ensure nothing is misplaced or stolen.
-Turn off all cell phones.
-No food allowed past studio door. Only drinks that have lids are permitted ANYWHERE inside D2X.
-No touching the mirrors or hanging on barres.
-No sitting or jumping on props/mats.
-No jewelry.
-No running or sitting (unless instructed to do so).
-Raise your hand to talk.
-Please use the restrooms BEFORE class! (Parents of younger children, please help enforce this rule. Once one has to go, they all have to & it really cuts into class time!)
-Please clean up after yourself and correctly dispose of any trash. This is YOUR dance studio, so help us take care of it and keep it looking nice.
-No yelling, tumbling, running, or other boisterous horseplay allowed in lobby.
-If your student is injured and must sit out of class, please provide us with a doctor’s note.

 

EVENTS & INFORMATION

-A newsletter will be EMAILED monthly. All parties, performances, deadlines and other important info will always be on there. Please keep us current with any email changes and be sure dance emails are not being sent to your spam folder. All newsletters will also be posted on the website. (If you would prefer paper handouts, please let Ashlee know).
-D2X offers a 9 month dance year. We make every attempt to hold each scheduled class; however, weather may make it unsafe to open the studio. We usually stick with the school on cancellations unless it has hit teachers’ line of travel or the road conditions have improved. All decisions will be made by 4:00 PM and a mass email will be sent out at that time, it will be posted on our Facebook and website, also sent via mass text by our texting service. -The studio is open for all holidays except Halloween (Beggar’s Night), Thanksgiving weekend, Winter Break, and Easter/Spring Break. Make-up or competition classes may be held during Winter Break or Spring Break. Recital is typically held the weekend after Memorial Day. This year’s date will be announced as soon as it is finalized with the auditorium. Everyone is encouraged to invite his or her family, friends, and relatives. Videotaping and photography are NOT permitted at the recital, but are allowed at dress rehearsal. There will be a video of the real show that will be available for purchase.
-There is ALWAYS regular class the week of recital, even if the last Monday falls on Memorial Day.

 

ETIQUETTE POLICY

It is extremely important to the teachers at D2X that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. In order to accomplish this, distractions must be held to a minimum. Parents, please allow your student to enter the dance room alone. Young dancers may want to bring in mom/dad, but once this happens, it tends to become habitual and causes a great distraction to class & teacher. Dance class is a terrific way to instill confidence & independence in little ones, so please allow teachers & assistants to handle these situations. The education of a child must be a cooperative venture between parents and their instructors. To insure that every student has the opportunity to learn, students will be asked to adhere to the D2X Dancers’ Etiquette policy, which will be discussed during the first week of classes. Students may be removed from class and/or studio events if the student becomes unruly or uncooperative. Etiquette policy is also in effect in the lobby.

 

TUITION & FEES

-There is a registration fee of $15 per student with max of $45 per family. In order to hold a spot in class, the registration fee & September tuition must be paid upon registering.
-Tuition and all fees are due the first lesson of each month.  A $10 late fee will be assessed to tuition fees that are not paid by the 10th day of each month and on all other fees that are not paid by their given deadline. Late payments make it difficult for the studio to meet it’s financial obligations. Classes will be suspended for students who fall more than two months behind on payments. Tuition can be paid monthly or in full (with a 10% discount) due by first class.
-There is a $25 fee for all returned checks.
-Students may not add on or switch classes after Nov 1st.
-Costume deposits are due at the end of Oct. Any remaining costume balances will be issued February 1st and are due March 1st.
-One pair of recital tights will be ordered for each female student. These will be charged with costume balances in March.
-Recital Deposits are due by April 1st. Any remainder of recital fee will be due by May 1st.
-All unpaid fees must be paid in full before receiving costumes or purchasing recital tickets.
-No credit will be given to any student for missed classes or absences. It will also not be given for time off due to holidays.
-All dues once paid are non-refundable. NO REFUNDS. 
-Students must remain in class to participate in recital. If a student drops a class for any reason, an official drop notice must be completed or the account WILL continue to be billed. If student’s attendance becomes an issue, and they have not been in class to learn the routine, they risk being pulled from the performance.
-Please phone or email the studio if your child is sick or unable to attend class for any reason.
